Same Job, Different Surroundings

Two weeks ago I started a New Job. This wasn’t really a new job for me, though, because I worked for this same company for seven months back in 2021, so I already was familiar with the way of doing things and company policies and whatnot. I had a lot of fun at that job back in Illinois and knew this was a great company to work for, so I decided to take this job in hopes that it would be a way of making some extra income while having some fun.

What I didn’t expect, though, was to walk in and find so much negativity! When you come into a workplace with so much ambition and positivity, it can be hard to walk in and not find that same kind of energy back. It felt to me like Nobody liked new people and that nobody liked their jobs (despite having the words “I love my Job” written on the back of our t-shirts). They say that you become like the people you surround yourself with, so when you are in that environment, it can be hard not to be dragged down into it. I’ve spent a lot of time praying for that place and for my co-workers that they would find some Joy. I’m a very optimistic person and try to find the positive in any situation, and it didn’t take me long to find some positivity in my job, I just can’t understand why people can’t see the same positivity that I do.

One of the things I think God has shown me through this Job, though, is that regardless of what I do or who I am, people are going to be who they are going to be, and I just need to be the person God created me to be. A fun-loving, positive person who passionately loves others, regardless of whether they love me back, the kind of love that imitates Christ’s love. Because he loves me, I can love others. John 15:12 says, “This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.”. That’s what keeps pushing me, God has blessed me with Gifts, and I need to continue to use them to glorify him because that’s my ultimate purpose in life.

Have a great week folks!
